Chemical Treatment

The properties of components are principally determined by their surface.

During chemical treatment, the natural oxide layer is removed, thus creating a uniform surface. Typical methods for applying conversion layers are phosphating on steel, chromate coating and anodising on aluminium - see also anodisation/anodising under the heading electrogalvanising.

Due to increasing legal restrictions on layers containing chromium, mbw focuses on chromium-free post-treatment methods, as these become increasingly significant in electroplating technology.
